A big THANK YOU to everyone who attended my sessions this week at the ASTD International Conference & Exposition in Washington DC. As promised, here are my handouts from the sessions.
Virtual Training: Three Keys to a Successful Implementation
Five Ways to Rock Your Virtual Classroom – Secrets of Master Trainers
You’ll also find many of the checklists I mentioned on my Resources page.
Enjoy!
I enjoyed your sessions very much. You provided very valuable information that I can apply to my work. Thanks!
Thank you! So glad you found it useful!
Cindy —
Your session was one of the best I attended at the conference!!
Do you have a favorite online training tool among those you mentioned: Adobe Connect, Cisco WebEx, Citrix GoToTraining? This is for an environment accustomed to one-way presentation-style webinars; would rarely have more than 75 participants. Thanks!!!!
Thanks, Amy! I’m so glad you enjoyed my session at ICE!
It’s hard to choose a favorite online training tool… that’s kind of like asking “what’s your favorite car?” They each do similar things, yet each one has it’s pros and cons. I like and use them all! My best advice is to make a list of the features you need (i.e. streaming video? breakout groups? etc) and then compare that list to the features found in each platform. Hope this helps!

I attended your first session – Virtual Training: 3 Keys to a Successful Implementation and thought it was wonderful. I especially loved the way you started with clarifying what you mean by virtual training – the difference between online meetings, presentations, seminars/webinars and training. The information you shared is so valuable. I can’t wait to start putting all this great information into practice!
Thanks, Barb! I’m so glad you found the information to be useful!
Great Session Cindy!
Do you have that picture of your work space during a virtual training available?
thank you.
Yes! I’ll upload it in a blog post soon!
I attended your second session and left with a couple of gems. Your distinction around the types of online ‘meeting’ was one. It helped me see some gaps inmy awareness and my approach. The second was just how simple it is to create online learning experiences that engage learners. Most of the online sessions I attend are stuck using a limited range of interactions that become a little tired after a while. You have helped me see that whilst the medium is different, there are still many creative options for virtual classroom interraction. Thanks very much.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed the session!
Cindy;
I just finished reading “The Virtual Training Guidebook”. I appreciated your direct, thoughtful approach and found many valuable tips that I will use as our organizations rolls out our virtual training initiative. Thanks for the guidance!
Thanks, Will! I’m so glad you found it to be useful!
